About the Project:
"Melancholia" is a bold theatrical adaptation of Lars Von Trier's film, brought to life by Smålands Musik & Teater. This immersive performance invites the audience into a world teetering on the brink of disaster, exploring the human condition in the face of impending doom. The narrative delves into themes of dreams, betrayal, imperfection, and humanity, all set against the backdrop of a celestial body hurtling towards Earth.
BK's Contribution:
BK Sannerud's role in this project was twofold: as a composer, they created 35 minutes of original music performed by the Jönköpings Sinfonietta, and as a sound designer, they crafted an immersive soundscape that echoed the narrative's existential themes. BK's innovative approach to sound and music played a significant role in enhancing the atmosphere of the performance, providing a unique and engaging experience for the audience.
