About the Project:

"Kurage" is a compelling drama inspired by real-life events. It tells the story of three individuals who, amidst societal condemnation, chose to stand their ground and act according to their beliefs during the AIDS epidemic in Sweden. The play explores themes of civil courage, human dignity, and hope, shedding light on the real events and personal experiences of the characters. The performance transports the audience back to the 1980s, prompting reflection on contemporary societal issues: Who champions human dignity today? How is civil courage manifested in our society? Who are the heroes in our lives?

BK's Contribution:

BK's musical concept for this production was a fusion of sacral pipe organ music and Electronic Dance Music (EDM). This blend was designed to reflect the dichotomy of the church's role during this period - providing both condemnation and solace - and the vibrant gay club scene of the 80s and 90s in Sweden. This unique musical approach created an immersive auditory experience that resonated with the audience, further enriching the narrative and emotional depth of the performance
