About the Project:
"Don’t Fear Change" was an innovative performance piece by the Nordic performance group BRAVO TOGA. As the first piece in a new duology, it delved into themes of escapism and posthumanism. The performance explored the paradox of possessing a human body with an animalistic mind, juxtaposed with a parallel mockumentary track that presented a cognitive group therapy session discussing the collective's unsustainable situation. The narrative suggested that the apocalypse is not a grandiose battlefield, but a slow, boring dystopia characterized by a gradual decline in biodiversity, capitalism, and enjoyment.
BK's Contribution:
BK Sannerud brought a unique touch to "Don’t Fear Change" with their innovative sound design, music, and light design. They used YouTube as a post-apocalyptic time machine, taking royalty-free audio and transforming it to create music that aligned with the performance's main theme. The music was procedural and evolving, providing a unique and immersive experience for the audience. In terms of light design, BK utilized garish LED lights to symbolize the insignificance of humans in a universal context, creating a visually striking and intellectually engaging aesthetic.
